Milan, January 23rd, 2007 - With reference to the news in today's press, FASTWEB (Milan, MTAX:FWB) wishes to state clearly that these articles are groundless, FASTWEB not having ever recorded false invoices with the objective of increasing its VAT receivable, what's more, a due and significant amount receivable arising from the considerable investments made since the Company's start-up in order to provide the Country with a new-generation telecommunication network.
The magistrate's enquiries to which today's press refers is an old investigation (dating back to 2004), focussed on certain companies providing value-added services, and to whom the majority of Italian telecommunication operators (Fastweb only marginally) have sold transport and connectivity services in a completely legitimate and transparent way.
