FASTWEB announces 2012 annual results
Fastweb has closed year 2012 with a turnover of 1.613 milion euro, compared to 1.605 million euro of December 2011 (+0,5% excluding revenues from hubbing which are being affected by a policy of programmed reduction). The gross operating margin (EBITDA) increased to 500 million euro, compared to 450 million Euro in 2011 (excluding extraordinary items).
HUAWEI and FASTWEB signed a strategic agreement on research and application of advanced technologies and innovative service for the new NGN networks
Huawei and Fastweb have signed an agreement for a multi-year cooperation for research and development of advanced technologies for ultra-broadband. The agreement will remain in effect for 5 years. The agreement has been signed today at Palazzo Chigi by Alberto Calcagno, CEO of Fastweb and Ji Ping, Executive Chairman of Huawei, in the presence of Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti and Jia Qinglin, Chairman of Chinese National Political Consultative Conference.
FASTWEB helps Emergency
FASTWEB invites her customers to help the mobile clinics of Emergency in Italy. The mobile clinics guarantee free healthcare to immigrants, foreigners and poor people who do not have access to treatment because of their scarce knowledge of their rights, as well as the linguistic barriers. FASTWEB's customers can donate 1 euro per month and FASTWEB will double the donation value.
Telecom Italia and FASTWEB sign cooperation agreement on development of NGN Networks
Telecom Italia and Fastweb, Italy's two leading telecommunications infrastructured operators, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation on the development of their next generation FTTCab networks.
FASTWEB launches national ultra-broadband network expansion
FASTWEB - Italy's leading alternative infrastructure operator with an optical fiber network of more than 33,000 km, and the only operator in Italy offering an access network reaching a speed of 100 megabit/sec - will expand its NGAN network (next generation access network) to reach 20% of Italian families and businesses with ultra-broadband by the end of 2014. About 5.5 million households and business sites will be connected to FASTWEB's ultra-broadband network, thanks to a mix of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and FTTS (Fiber to the Street Cabinet, or FTTcab) technologies providing access speeds of up to 100 megabit/sec today and up to 400 megabit/sec in the future.
