Fastweb and Mediterra DataCenters strengthen their collaboration to reinforce digital connectivity across the Mediterranean

Fastweb and Mediterra DataCenters, a premium regional data center platform for the Mediterranean, are continuing their strategic collaboration to strengthen national and international digital connectivity through the integration of their respective infrastructures.

The joint effort focuses in particular on Mediterra's data center in Carini (Palermo), which is linked to a connectivity ecosystem combining terrestrial backbones and high-capacity submarine connections to enable regional—and beyond—data traffic. Complementing this infrastructure is Unitirreno, the next-generation submarine cable that connects Mazara del Vallo, Rome, Olbia and Genoa, on which Fastweb has recently acquired significant assets.

The collaboration delivers concrete benefits for both organizations and the local area: Fastweb leverages an integrated network of state-of-the-art terrestrial and submarine infrastructure, boosting capacity, resilience and coverage; Mediterra enhances the appeal of its carrier-neutral platform, consolidating its role as a hub for data exchange in the Mediterranean region. Together, the companies help create the conditions for a more open and competitive digital ecosystem.
