Fastweb Wholesale was invited to the annual General Electric summit to present its experience of using Smallworld, the GIS software used to determine the technical and economical feasibility of fiber optic connections.
Fastweb Wholesale described how the Smallworld suite has been integrated into Fastweb Wholesale Portal and it is used to support the back office and pre-sale departments during the feasibility process, thus making it faster, more accurate and reliable.
The GIS could be effectively used thanks to the capillarity, the completeness and accuracy of information stored about the tracks and the characteristics of the infrastructure and fiber optics. These information are regularly updated by our field engineers. To improve usability, data are provided through a web interface based on Google Maps.
This integration allows Fastweb Wholesale Internal Sales department to determine tracks, costs and time for the construction of any civil works needed to meet connection requests of buildings not yet connected to Fastweb network, sparing time and through automatic calculation algorithms.
