Fastweb announces financial results for fiscal year 2021: 34th consecutive quarter of growth for customers, revenues and margins

At December 31st 2021 Fastweb reports a 14% growth in wireline, mobile and wholesale customers compared to previous year, and a 4% increase in revenues. Margins also increased with EBITDA marking a 5% year over year growth. Mobile segment continues its double digits growth.

Milan, 3rd February 2022 – Fastweb scores its 34th consecutive quarter of growth, with positive performance in terms of customers, revenues and margins. A result achieved thanks to the strong commitment to support the digital transformation of families, businesses and PA and to the infrastructural development of the country. Transparency and simplicity of the offers along with the social and environmental initiatives against climate change carried out by Fastweb are highly appreciated by the market. Thanks to the company attention to environmental issues and society Fastweb has recently received the "EE" (Strong) sustainability rating from Standard Ethics.

In the last twelve months, Fastweb acquired 692.000 new customers in the segments of wireline, mobile and wholesale access services (+14% compared to 31st December 2020) and the revenues of the year totalled 2.392 million euro, up 4% compared to 2020.

Reported EBITDA at 31st December reached 826 million euro whereas EBITDA after lease costs (EBITDAaL) reached 772 million euro, both up 5% versus prior year.

Also in 2021, Fastweb confirms its leadership in terms of investments, which totalled 601 million euro, equal to 25% of revenues, focused mainly on the transition of the company into an infrastructured OTT operator through the development of fixed and mobile 5G and FWA networks, advance.

A positive performance also for FCF Proxy (EBITDAaL - Capex) which reaches 171 million euro, up 18% compared to the previous year, highlighting Fastweb increasing capability to generate cash organically.

Fastweb confirms its leadership role in the penetration of ultra-broadband connectivity services. At December 31st 2.243.000 residential customers subscribed UBB connectivity services, up 12% compared to previous year. 82% of the customer base (+9 p.p. compared to the end of 2020), enjoys connectivity with download speed from 100 Mb/s up to 1 Gb/s. More than 300.000 Fastweb’s customers are currently connected with speed of 2.5 Gb/s.

The mobile segment continues its double-digit growth. At December 31st Fastweb totalled 2.472.000 active customers, up 26% compared to 2020. Convergent customers adopting mobile as well as wireline services represent 38% of Fastweb wireline customer base (+4 p.p. yoy).

Strong results also for the Wholesale division with revenues up to 271 million euro, +3% year over year. The number of UBB lines provided to other operators at the end of 2021 grew to 336.000 marking a significant increase of 113% compared to 2020 due to the strong request for connectivity by other operators who choose Fastweb and its infrastructures in order to provide high-performance ultra-broadband connections to their customers.

The Enterprise Business Unit performed also well, with revenues totalling 979 million euro (+8% compared to previous year), an increase enabled by the high performance of the infrastructures and the wide portfolio of services to support the digital transformation of Public Administrations and enterprises, including cyber security and Cloud Computing solutions. Fastweb market share for the Enterprise Business segment is now 35% in terms of revenues.
