Fastweb is the official top sponsor of the Italian e-Sports Association (ITeSPA), the only video-gaming national representative recognised by the International e-Sports Federation, for the selection of the best Italian video-players, who will make up the Fastweb National Team, the team that will represent the company for 12 months in national and international competitions.
The Italian team, which after the September trials will complete its selection phase, will take part in the 9th e-Sports World Championship, which will be held in South Korea from 8th to 12th November and at the Grand Finale of the competition, organised by the World Cyber ??Arena (WCA), which will be held in China in December 2017.
The selection of the best Italian video-players for the official titles available in the 9th e-Sports World Championship, will take place in two online and live tournaments, entitled: Counter Strike Global Offensive and Tekken7. The team selection phase will start on Sunday, 10th September and end on Sunday, 15th October.
Below is the tournament schedule:
- Counter Strike Global Offensive: 10th and 17th September from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Tekken7: 14-15 October in Rome, all day (starting at 12:00 noon and finishing at 10:00 p.m.).
For the Counter Strike Global Offensive, the online tournament will also involve a live final, which will take place as part of the Milan Games Week, on 29th September, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Fastweb's support for this initiative, which will involve the participation of hundreds of competitors from all over Italy is a testimony to the commitment of Fastweb to raising awareness of an activity that is not only seen as the future of entertainment, but that is increasingly recognised as a sporting activity to all intents and purposes, with video games becoming a sporting discipline for the first time in history at the 19th Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou (China) in 2022.
